Extranjería Las Palmas: the offices of Gran Canaria, one by one

In the city, the NIE is listed at Calle Luis Doreste Silva 68, and EU registration and the TIE at Plaza de la Feria 24. In the south, Maspalomas and Santa Lucía de Tirajana list the NIE and the TIE. Permits are decided at the Oficina de Extranjería, Plaza de la Concordia 5. Below, office by office: the address, what the sources list, the phone, and who books it.

Calle Luis Doreste Silva 68: the number

Address: Calle Luis Doreste Silva 68, 35004 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Phone: 928 304 667. In the police directory on policia.es, the unit at this address is named Brigada Provincial de Extranjería y Fronteras de Las Palmas, the Policía Nacional’s unit for foreigners and borders; the police e-office calls the address “Comisaría de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Centro”, and the general list of police premises puts the Jefatura Superior de Policía de Canarias, the regional headquarters, at the same number. No opening hours are given. Its entry, in English first and in the directory’s words after:

  • NIE certificates and NIE assignment (certificados y asignación de NIE)
  • Return authorisations (autorizaciones de regreso)
  • Invitation letters (cartas de invitación) and nationality reports (informes de nacionalidad)
  • Extensions of stay (prórrogas de estancia)
  • Asylum and refuge (asilo y refugio)
  • Travel documents and registration cards (títulos de viaje y cédulas)

Plaza de la Feria 24: Europeans and cards

Address: Plaza de la Feria 24, 35071 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Phone: 928 999 281. The directory gives this second city address to the same brigade, with a shorter and quite different entry. No opening hours are given here either:

  • Régimen comunitario: the procedures for Europeans and their families, green certificate included
  • Issue of TIE cards (expedición TIE)
  • Students (estudiantes)
  • Residence without work (residencias no lucrativas)

NIE Maspalomas: Avenida de Moya 4

Address: Avenida de Moya 4, 35100 San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Phone: 928 730 447. The entry of the Comisaría de Maspalomas covers NIE certificates and assignment, the issue of TIE cards, invitation letters, nationality reports, and travel documents and registration cards.

The police list marks the station as accessible for people with reduced mobility, with remote sign-language interpreting and hearing loops. The régimen comunitario, however, is missing from its entry, so a European in Playa del Inglés or Meloneras who needs the green certificate looks at Plaza de la Feria in the city, or at Santa Lucía de Tirajana if the booking system offers it.

Santa Lucía de Tirajana: the full set for the south-east

Address: Calle Escorial, at the corner of Calle Dr. Negrín, 35110 Santa Lucía de Tirajana. The directory gives no phone for foreigners’ matters here. Its entry covers NIE certificates and assignment, the issue of TIE cards and the régimen comunitario, which makes it the one office in the south where the number, the card and the green certificate all appear.

Who it is for matters here. The Ministry of the Interior created the unit with Orden INT/864/2012 to serve the residents of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Agüimes and Ingenio, the towns of the Mancomunidad del Sureste. If you live in San Bartolomé de Tirajana or Mogán and the booking system does not offer it to you, Plaza de la Feria 24 in the city lists the same procedures.

Telde: letters, not numbers

The Comisaría de Telde, Calle Escultor Eduardo Chillida Juantegui, 35200 Telde (928 704 116), has only invitation letters and nationality reports in its entry. No NIE, TIE or EU procedure appears there. Residents of Ingenio and Agüimes have the Santa Lucía unit, set up for them; residents of Telde look to the city addresses.

Other police stations in the city

The same directory lists two more Policía Nacional stations in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Comisaría Norte at Calle Juan Rejón 62 and the Comisaría Sur at Calle Córdoba 1, with no foreigners’ procedures at all. It shows no Policía Nacional unit in Arucas, Gáldar, Ingenio, Agüimes or Mogán.

Plaza de la Concordia 5: the Oficina de Extranjería

Address: Plaza de la Concordia 5, 35003 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Phone: 928 999 260. This is not a police station but the State’s immigration office, part of the Delegación del Gobierno en Canarias. The Delegación del Gobierno’s page names residence and work authorisations, return authorisations, extensions, reagrupación familiar (family reunification), arraigo (residence for people who have put down roots here), long-term residence, the card for relatives of Union citizens, and appeals (recursos).

That page also points elsewhere for three things: the green certificate, the TIE and the NIE, it says, belong to police premises. Plaza de la Concordia is therefore not the place for a bare number or a green certificate.

Reaching the offices by guagua

Guaguas Municipales, the city’s public bus company, has two stops named after Plaza de la Feria: “Dr. Waksman (pl. de La Feria)”, stop 42, on lines 11, 25 and L3, and “León y Castillo (pl. de La Feria)”, stop 8, on lines 1 and L1. Its line pages do not say how far either stop is from number 24, so check the last stretch on a map.

For Calle Luis Doreste Silva 68, no official page names a stop. The company does have stops called “Luis Doreste Silva, 22” and “Luis Doreste Silva, 50”, on lines 1, 10, 11, 17 and L1, but nothing official relates them to number 68. For Plaza de la Concordia 5 and the stations of Maspalomas, Santa Lucía de Tirajana and Telde, our sources give no public transport at all, so we name none: plan from the address on your booking, with time to spare.

Questions

Extranjería Las Palmas: is there one office for everything?

No. The bare NIE, the green certificate and the TIE sit at different police addresses, and permits are decided at the Oficina de Extranjería. Check the list on this page before you book.

When are these offices open?

Neither source gives hours: none for the island’s police units in the directory, none for the Oficina on the Delegación’s page. Your time is the one on the booking.

Is the “Comisaría de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Centro” the office on Luis Doreste Silva?

Yes. That is how the police e-office names the address at Calle Luis Doreste Silva 68.

I live in Gáldar. Is there an office in the north-west?

No. The police directory shows no Policía Nacional unit in Gáldar or Arucas, and its foreigners’ units on the island are in the city, Telde, Maspalomas and Santa Lucía de Tirajana. From Gáldar, Guía or Agaete, the city addresses are the nearest.
